Another great trip report from regular contributor, Michigander, and Gociety member Nick Meekhof who originally filed this Trip Report on Gociety. You can read the whole post here. Then go and submit a Trip Report of your own.

And if you haven’t signed up for our Ales & Trails event in Grand Rapids on July 16, it’s time to get on the list!

nickNick Meekhof – Walker, MI
Gociety Member since: Feb. ‘16
Current Goals: Kayaking 100 Michigan rivers, swimming in Lake Michigan during every month of the year, standing at the exact four corners of the state, and visiting as many Michigan breweries as possible.
Self-proclaimed “Bread and Butter”: Hiking and camping. “I hike almost daily, and I camp almost weekly, year-round.”
LOCATION: Nordhouse Dunes Wilderness Area

“It’s magnificently warm in the Mitten right now; almost all the snow has melted, and Lake Michigan is completely thawed.”

“Usually I go backpacking with a slew of guys, and we pack out growlers of Dirty Bastard and make friends with everyone we meet.”

“The stars were bright, and we spent an hour pointing out shooting stars and constellations through the Milky Way above the light of our fire. Around 5am it did rain just long enough to have to pack out a wet tent, but that was a small chip in an otherwise ideal camping trip.”
